Vintage Wilson Football Helmet Custom 1970 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Montana

Rare original and vintage WIlson football helmet from the 1970s with a complete set of leather padding. This beauty is a true one of a kind and has been customized to represent the helmet worn by Joe Montana during the late 1970s.

This amazing helmet has been painted with a fresh coat of gold paint, and includes an OPO style facemask just as worn by Montana. See photos for reference only and not included with purchase.

To round out the package we have included # 3 written above the ear hole as might have been done by equipment managers for identification purposes.

As many folks are aware, the Fighting Irish are one of the teams which used Wilson helmets during this period of the late 1960s- late 1970s.

PLEASE READ- This is truly a custom one of a kind helmet and was built to represent a game worn helmet of the team shown. Please understand what you are buying. If you want a perfectly pristine brand new looking helmet which costs $1500-$2000 this is not the helmet for you. However, if you want an affordable vintage helmet which will display nicely, this is your helmet!

This helmet was built by lightly sanding the outside and cleaning the inside before painting the outside of the shell. It has flaws just like the helmets worn during the 1960s, but will display nicely. These were built to put on the shelf or mantle and enjoy discussions about the golden era of football!

This is a nice size 6 7/8 full size helmet.

Please see photos for condition. The padding is still nice and pliable and by itself is worth the asking price.
