Vintage Game Used Rawlings HND Football Helmet St. Louis Cardinals Jim Otis?
Very rare St. Louis Cardinals game used Rawlings HND football helmet with full set of padding and jaw pads. This beauty is in attractive used condition! The Cardinals were one of several teams who used mainly Rawlings helmets during the era and this is a fine example of those historic helmets.
Check out the full set of leather padding held securely in place by the iconic “cross” headed screws, and authentic very rare Rawlings comma shaped jaw pads! These jaw pads also have the even more rare version of the inverted snaps.
This helmet was kept in a bar in the St. Louis area for over 50 years, along with an early 1960s Kansas City Chiefs RIDDell TK5 game used helmet. The Chiefs helmet is not available. We managed to acquire this helmet and the helmet has been completely disassembled and cleaned, with the exception of the small area where an equipment manager wrote the player’s number 35 in black felt tip pen.
There is no longer any tobacco smell on the helmet either. We also restored the stenciling on the rear of the helmet.
The Rawlings HND helmets are exceptionally rare as they are from the early-mid 1960s, and represent the predecessor of the vaunted HND-9 helmets. This is truly a rare opportunity to own an important piece of NFL history!
This amazing specimen includes paper thin original team issued Cardinals decals, and also comes with an original authentic RIDDell BD9 facemask, the most widely used football helmet facemask on the planet. As shown in the photos, the mask is date stamped to June of 1966.
Own this helmet and your friends will swear you stole it from the Cardinals locker room after a game in 1964!
Will make a stunning display, and looks like it just came off the field!
All of our helmets are for display purposes only! They are not to be used or worn for competitive play. Westbrook Sportscards has been in business since 1988.
