Vintage 1970s Wilson Football Helmet Notre Dame Fighting Irish Ross Browner

Rare original and vintage WIlson football helmet from the 1970s with a complete set of padding. This beauty has been customized to represent the helmet worn by some of the Notre Dame players at that time, one of the most famous of which was All-American Ross Browner.

This amazing helmet has been painted with a fresh coat of Notre Dame gold, and includes a reproduction Dungard DG-140 facemask ($120 value for just the mask) properly attached exactly as Browner wore for most his Notre Dame career. See photos for reference only and not included with purchase.

To round out the package we have included Browner’s #89 written appropriately above the ear hole as equipment managers might have done for identification purposes.

As many folks are aware, the Irish are one of the few teams which used Wilson helmets during this period of the 1970s.

PLEASE READ- This is truly a custom one of a kind helmet and was built to represent a game worn helmet of the team shown. Please understand what you are buying. If you want a perfectly pristine brand new looking helmet which costs $1500-$2000 this is not the helmet for you. However, if you want an affordable vintage helmet which will display nicely, this is your helmet!

This helmet was built by lightly sanding the outside and cleaning the inside before painting the outside of the shell. It has flaws just like the helmets worn during the 1960s, but will display nicely. These were built to put on the shelf or mantle and enjoy discussions about the golden era of football!

Please see photos for condition. The padding is still nice and pliable and by itself is worth the asking price.
