Vintage 1969 Riddell Kra-Lite Football Helmet Miami Dolphins Game Used 1969-72?

Very rare Miami Dolphins game used Riddell Kra-Lite football helmet. This amazing helmet was originally manufactured in 1969, as shown by the Riddell date sticker which was formerly secured to the inside of the shell of the helmet. As most helmets were used multiple seasons unless damaged, it is plausible this helmet was part of the Dolphins’ perfect 1972 season which culminated in their Super Bowl victory over the Redskins!

We received the following statement from the individual from whom we acquired this amazing piece of Americana- “I purchased this helmet back around 1983 from someone who worked for the Dolphins back in the 70s. The helmet is yellowed but that's exactly how it was when I purchased it back then. The decals were cut in half. From what I am told is they used to do that so the decal would lay flat. They are also the thinner mil decals. I purchased two helmets from this person. One had #86 on the back which was Marlin Briscoe and this one I was told was worn by LLoyd Mumphord but there are no numbers on the back or anything on the inside to state that it was his. Just explaining what I was advised. Face mask has J 9 stamped on it so it was made in 1969. I also added a picture of the sticker that fell out of the helmet. It's the 1969 TK2 Helmet sticker. This helmet was used for a few years after 69 and probably during the undefeated season.”

This amazing specimen includes paper thin original team issued decals, and as mentioned above, when the Dolphins used this larger diameter decal many times the equipment managers did cut the decals so they would lay flat and not bubble up or wrinkle which would cause the decal to be ripped during competition. Helmet also includes original vintage Riddell BD9 facemask, Riddell cervical pad, and vintage RIDDell leather jaw pads!
