Riddell 1950s RT2 Football Helmet Maroon Under Clear Shell Vintage Chin Strap

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION!

Extremely rare, vintage and original Riddell RT2, in nice adult size 6 7/8 Football Helmet, from the late 1940s-early 1950s, complete with original wrap around leather jaw pads, old school 6-strap suspension and leather crown pad. Helmet has iconic 32-hole venting in top of shell. also comes with matching vintage two tone tan leather chin strap.

One of the interesting and endearing things about this helmet is the staples and repair which is covered over by another layer of the clear plastic. You rarely see these old Tenite helmets with repairs.

Based on shape and number of holes in the top of the shell, as well as consideration of the suspension, our best estimate would indicate this helmet was manufactured in the late 1940s to early 1950s.

This beauty is painted maroon under the clear shell with white painted center stripe and has the Riddell trademark under the clear shell on the right rear side. Teams which used this color combination include Texas A&M from 1946-1948.
