Original Riddell 1972 Georgia Bulldogs Kra-Lite TK2 Game Football Helmet

Vintage and original Georgia Bulldogs Riddell Kra-Lite TK2 game helmet from 1972 as shown by the “Riddell” and “Kra-Lite” stamped into the rear of the helmet and the ring date stamp above the earhole. This is a legitimate NCAA game helmet, although not used in a game. Please read further.

This beautiful specimen is a white impregnated shell, and painted appropriate Georgia red by Riddell at time of manufacture in 1972, so the paint is original to the shell. This amazing specimen also includes an original size 6 3/4 suspension with authentic and vintage original Riddell gray top pad.

The decals are original to 1972 as well, and were put on the helmet by Riddell. These are also double layered, with two separate pieces of vinyl applied to make the decal, just as Riddell used when they manufactured these Georgia helmets. The “G” is black vinyl and laid on top of the white oval.

We have added a new white center stripe to the helmet to add to the appearance as the older stripe which remains underneath is slightly discolored. There appears to also have been some cosmetic enhancement in a small point on the facemask.

This amazing specimen also includes leather jaw pads just as used on the field.

This helmet was removed from a RIDDell helmet lamp to make available for display. Riddell helmet lamps were manufactured between 1969 and 1973, and used actual game helmets which were manufactured by Riddell for the NFL and NCAA teams. These lamps were available by mail order through The Sears Wishbook.

RIDDell helmet lamps were not manufactured until ordered. When ordered, RIDDell simply removed the suspension padding from the helmet and replaced the rivets before assembling the helmet into a lamp to ship out. We then had the suspension restored to make this beautiful specimen game ready again! NCAA teams are extremely rare.
