Game Used NFL, Riddell Kra-Lite, and Miscellaneous Helmets: Washington Redskins Riddell Kra-Lite II Suspension Helmet circa 1972

This Redskins beauty is an authentic Riddell Kra-Lite II helmet manufactured with a date stamp of 1972. That would make this one of the first Redskins helmets with this color scheme and logo, as they switched to this logo in 1972. This helmet was manufactured by Riddell for use on the field, but ended up as some of the vintage authentic Riddell helmet shells did in the late 1960s and early 1970s, assembled into a Riddell helmet lamp. This helmet was removed from that lamp and recently received a size 7 3/8 suspension padding. The shell, thin-mil decals and striping, 2-bar Riddell BD-9 facemask, and leather jaw pads are all original and from the original manufacture date. This helmet has been lightly touched up with Redskins burgundy paint, which, as one can see, was a perfect match. The touch-up gives the impression of a game used helmet. This is a great old Redskins helmet that was game issue quality and is a very desirable display piece. We have seen the helmet lamps fetch more money than we are asking this item, and the lamps do not have suspension padding installed. This will make a great gift for that old die-hard Redskins fan!
