RK Vintage Style 1969 New Orleans Saints Pre-Season Football Helmet

RK style black Football Helmet with iconic double layered decals of the 1969 New Orleans Saints as they wore during the preseason! That's right! These decals are two layers of vinyl just as the Saints wore during the 1960s! The gold is laying on top of the white!

Now for the reason for the design change by the Saints- The Saints made this change in helmet design with intent to continue into the regular season, but the NFL had not approved the change before the Saints made the switch, so the Saints had to return to their original gold helmets for all games during the regular season. Boy, it was a different world back then!

This beauty has been customized to represent the helmet worn that year by All-Time great and Hall of Famer, Doug Atkinson as he anchored the Saints defense!

Helmet includes iconic 1966 Schutt style NJOP facemask as worn by Atkinson at that time! Photos are for reference only and not included with purchase.

Helmet is built to represent the famous 1960s configuration of the RK suspension helmet with 12-spoke suspension made exactly as the originals from the 1960s.
