Riddell Kra-Lite RK2 Suspension Football Helmet 1962 Detroit Lions Gail Cogdill

Detroit Lions Riddell Classic RK2 Kra-Lite helmet, striped with Lions blue striping, and decaled with the no-outline Lion, as the Lions wore from 1961-1968. Note the photos of Lions All-time great and fan favorite Gail Cogdill. This particular helmet has been customized to be exactly as Cogdill wore in 1962, his second pro-bowl year.

Cogdill was selected by the Detroit Lions in the 1960 NFL Draft and played professional football as a split end and wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions (1960–1968), the Baltimore Colts (1968), and the Atlanta Falcons (1969–1970). He won the NFL Rookie of the Year Award in 1960 and played in three Pro Bowls, after the 1960, 1962, and 1963 seasons. During an 11-year NFL career, he caught 356 passes for 5,696 yards and scored a total of 36 touchdowns. Cogdill had his best season in 1962, catching 53 passes for 991 yards and seven touchdowns.

To round out this incredible helmet we have added an original RIDDell single bar mask with gold foil stamping in correct font as used in 1962, and Cogdill’s name and number 89 written above the ear holes on authentic vintage athletic tape as the Lions equipment managers would have done for identification purposes. This may truly be a one of a kind helmet!

The adult size 7 3/8 suspension webbing is identical to the original right down to the same brown thread that was used to stitch it together. Thin mil decals exactly as the originals, real leather jaw pads, gray toned strap and identical front style labeling makes this helmet indistinguishable from the original. They are painted gray inside just as the Riddell vintage originals from the 1960's, and also have the "KRA-LITE" and "RIDDell" trademarks branded into the rear of the helmet, unlike some other helmets you may find on the market these days which have neither.
