Riddell Kra-Lite RK2 Football Helmet 1967 Detroit Lions Mike Weger Autographed

Detroit Lions Riddell Classic RK2 Kra-Lite helmet, striped with Lions blue striping, and decaled with the no-outline Lion, as the Lions wore from 1961-1968. This particular helmet has been customized to be exactly as Weger wore in 1967, his rookie year.

This beautiful Helmet is one of a set of officially licensed helmets produced to commemorate the movie, “Paper Lion”, and to be autographed by the Lions players who appeared in that film. See the sticker on the rear of the helmet which serves as a certificate of authenticity for both the limited production of the helmet and the autograph as well.

Mike Weger was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 1967 NFL Draft in the 9th round, the 218th pick overall and played safety for the Lions from 1967 to 1975, and with the Houston Oilers from 1976 to 1977. He was twice named honorable mention All-Pro by the Associated Press. He finished his career with 17 interceptions, six fumble recoveries and scored two defensive touchdowns.

He also played a small part as himself in the 1968 film “Paper Lion”, where he sang the unofficial BGSU Fight Song "Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba" in the film.
