Early Vintage Riddell Kra-Lite TK5 Football Helmet Wrap Around Jaw Pads Sep 1954

Vintage original and authentic very early Riddell Kra-Lite TK5 Football Helmet-

Very early, authentic, original and vintage Riddell TK5 Kra-Lite helmet from September 1954 as shown by the date stamp inside the helmet. Size is adult 6 7/8, and has the well known 6 spoke suspension and original RIDDell TK5 sticker in rear of helmet.

Additional information which lends to this assessment is the material used to make the washers used to hold the suspension and the absence of a nose snubber pad.

Helmet is a very rare specimen as a TK5 helmet with wrap around leather jaw pads! This item is a very rare item indeed, and although we can’t be sure, may represent a part of Riddell’s first run of TK5 helmets and pre-date the snap in jaw pads which came along shortly after.

We have never seen one like this before! What do you get for the helmet collector who has every helmet ever produced? I bet they don’t have one like this!

The Riddell TK5, known and recognized by the “Tru-Kurv” shell, was used by many NFL greats until the mid 1960s when the RIDDell TK2 was introduced.

This helmet is missing one of the jaw pads, and shows a very attractive minor wear. The “RIDDell” and “Kra-Lite” stamping is iconic and very clear!
