1965 Washington Redskins Head Dress Logo Prototype RK2 Football Helmet Taylor

Custom, one of a kind RK2 Style helmet, with Washington Redskins prototype team decals from the time between the 1964 and 1965 seasons. As the article shares from the Washington Post, the head dress design was considered by the Redskins instead of the famous spear logo used from 1965-1969.

This amazing specimen has also been customized to represent the helmet Charley Taylor would have worn had the team chosen this logo design for that year. To make this helmet as realistic as possible we have also included Taylor’s number 42 on the rear of the helmet as it might have been placed had the team actually used this version in the 1965 season.

This design would have replaced the iconic feather logo that ended in 1964 and was first introduced in the third to last game of the 1958 season. Since the Redskins basically only used the RK2 helmet during this time, that is the helmet used for this project.

Helmet comes with the most widely recognized facemask on the planet, the BD-9, 2-bar facemask, just as worn by several Hall of Fame players, such as Charley Taylor, Chris Hanburger, Sonny Jorgensen, and Bobby Mitchell.

The classic shape of the RK's slightly flared shell and handsome metal rivets are complemented by the attachment of a two bar facemask. These helmets are recently manufactured helmets! The adult size 7 3/8 suspension webbing is identical to the original right down to the same brown thread that was used to stitch it together. This item also has real leather jaw pads, and gray toned chin strap. Helmet is also painted gray inside just as the vintage originals from the 1960's. This helmet displays beautifully and will make a wonderful gift!
