Rare vintage and original MacGregor H612 suspension leather helmet from the late 1940s to early 1950s, and autographed by NFL Hall of Famer, Bulldog Turner! Helmet also bears the autographs of additional players as well.
Clyde Douglas "Bulldog" Turner (March 10, 1919 – October 30, 1998) was an American professional football player and coach in the National Football League (NFL). He was elected, as a player, to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1960 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1966. He was also selected in 1969 to the NFL 1940s All-Decade Team.
Here is the history of this amazing find as relayed to us from the previous owner: “Give you a little history with it, my father got it when he worked with the boys clubs in Lubbock, so there was a thought it could of been Texas Tech old helmet. The two autographs are for real I went to Bulldog Turners house in Temple, Texas when I was younger. He was one of the monsters of the midway in the 40s also HOF. The other gentlemen played with him in Chicago.”
This amazing specimen is a nice adult size 7 1/4, and comes painted red, with white leather center stripe and black side stripes neatly painted onto the red. This is the same model as worn by some college and even professional players.
Real man cave item! Will make a stunning display, and looks like it just came off the field!
